Michael Madsen fu preso in considerazione per il ruolo di Mickey Knox, ma la Warner Bros alla fine optò per un attore più famoso dato che la pellicola avrebbe sicuramente sforato il budget prestabilito.
La produzione alla fine scelse Woody Harrelson perchè a loro giudizio l'attore sarebbe anche riuscito ad alleviare la brutalità
del personaggio.

Juliette Lewis ruppe accidentalmente il naso di Tom Sizemore nella scena quando il suo personaggio aggredisce Jack Scagnetti sbattendogli la testa contro la perete delle cella.

Furono tagliate e modificate più di 150 scene per fare in modo che il film non venisse vietato ai minori di 18 anni. Il successivo montaggio della pellicola durò 11 mesi.

Furono utilizzati 18 diversi film format.

Il film subì più di 2.500 tagli. Di solito non ne vengono fatti più di 600 o 700.

Il cognome del poliziotto che dà la caccia a Mickey e Mallory è Scagnetti, proprio come quello del garante della libertà vigilata di Vic Vega, il Mr. Blonde di Reservoir Dogs.

Il colore verde simboleggia la follia di Mickey e non a caso preannuncia sempre i momenti più violenti del film. (La torta al lime, l'insegna luminosa della farmacia...)

La scena della rivolta fu girata all'interno di una vera prigione. Molte delle comparse sono, infatti, dei veri detenuti alcuni dei quali condannati per omicidio.

Ogni volta che Mallory flirta con qualcuno che non sia Mickey finisce sempre con l'aggredirlo. (Il camionista, il ragazzo della stazione di servizio e Scagnetti).

La madre di Mallory ha i capelli blu, proprio come quella di Alex, il protagonista di "Arancia Meccanica".

Durante la scena al motel, Mickey indossa biancheria intima femminile.

Quando Mickey e Mallory sono al motel insieme all'ostaggio, si vedono alcune scene tratte dal film "Scarface" scritto da Oliver Stone e altre tratte dal film "The wild bunch".

L'intervista di Mickey in carcere si ispira moltissimo a quella che il giornalista Geraldo Rivera fece a Charles Manson.

Mickey e Mallory uccidono un poliziotto di nome Gerald Nash.
Anche il poliziotto torturato da Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs si chiamava Nash.

I protagonisti del film si ispirano a Charles Starkweather e Caril Fugate, una coppia del Nebraska che nel 1958 compirono una serie di omicidi di massa terrorizzando l'intera nazione.

Il bambino che interpreta il fratello di Mallory nella grottesca sit-com è Sean Stone, figlio del regista Oliver Stone.
